This guide is about the parts of a hyperbaric chamber purchase that never appear on the quote. Read it in order, or take the chapter you need.

A hyperbaric chamber is not a piece of furniture and it is not an appliance. It is a pressure vessel, or a fabric envelope holding a pressure differential, connected to a compressor and usually to an oxygen source, sitting in a room that has to be right for it. The chamber itself is the part of the decision with the most marketing attached and the fewest unknowns. Everything else — the circuit, the floor, the doorway, the ventilation path, the consumables, the inspection record — is where buyers get hurt.

This guide is written by people who install and service this equipment for a living, which is both the reason it is useful and the reason you should read the disclosure below. It is organised in four parts. Orientation sets out what the regulatory and published record actually supports, because a surprising number of purchases are made on a phrase that appears in no FDA document. True cost puts real published prices next to the cost lines that never appear on a quote. Site readiness is the longest section, because it is the part almost nobody researches before signing. Ownership covers what the equipment asks of you after the excitement wears off.

Two things this guide will not do. It will not tell you that hyperbaric oxygen treats a condition: every statement here about what pressure or oxygen does carries a link to a primary source, and where the record does not support a claim we say the record does not support it. And it will not invent a number. Where a manufacturer does not publish a specification or a price, this guide says not published and moves on.

Our commercial interest

Competitor equipment is described on its published specifications, and on several pages here the honest answer is that a competitor's chamber — or no chamber at all — fits the reader better.

Where to start, depending on what you already know

If you have not yet decided between a fabric chamber and a rigid vessel, start at hard shell vs soft shell. That single choice determines your pressure ceiling, your electrical load, your freight class, your floor loading and which published studies are even relevant to your equipment.

If you have a budget and want to know whether it is realistic, start at chamber cost by tier and then read the costs nobody quotes immediately afterwards. Reading them in the other order tends to produce a number you then have to revise.

If you have already chosen equipment and are trying to work out whether your building can take it, go straight to site readiness. If you are close to a delivery date, the pre-install checklist is the fastest route to the things people forget.

What this guide will not do

It will not tell you that hyperbaric oxygen treats a condition. Every statement here about pressure, oxygen or safety is linked to the document it came from, and where a use has not been cleared or established we quote the regulator saying so rather than leaving the gap for a salesperson to fill.

It will not print a number we cannot source. There are places on this site where the honest answer is that a manufacturer does not publish a weight, an amperage, a warranty term or a price, and those places say so in as many words. There are no reviews, ratings, testimonials or award badges anywhere on this site, because we have none we could publish honestly.

And it will not pretend the four decisions above are separable from each other. The chamber you choose sets your electrical load, your freight method, your floor requirement and your maintenance schedule. That is why this is written as a handbook to be read in order rather than a set of answers to search queries.
